people dancing

Photographing the first dance can be tricky. I always take five minutes to have a look at the space, take some test shots and have a chat with the band / dj (is it going to be a fast song, or slow etc.) I also check that there aren’t going to be any surprises like dry ice, or laser lights (or every photographers worst nightmare, both…) These can be tricky to work around as dry ice often gets out of… Read more »

Men In Waiting is an ongoing collection of images showing those tense, nervous (sometimes excruciating) moments of anticipation expressed by the Groom (and quite often the Best Man), just as the Bride is about to arrive. Each week I’ll be adding another image to the collection. Check my Instagram feed for updates every Friday here: @Tom_Gold_Wedding_Photography

preston court wedding venue

Photography by Tom Gold at Preston Court Without a doubt, Preston Court has to be one of the best wedding venues in the UK. It’s little wonder that Brides Magazine have included them in it’s top 100 wedding venues of 2018. Located in a beautiful part of Kent and still within easy travelling distance from London, the venue offers everything you could need for the perfect wedding, plus a lot more…! Preston Court has no less than three amazing locations… Read more »

These days, photographing a wedding is all about telling a story and with all stories, there’s a beginning, a middle and an end. So where better to start than the beginning? Almost a ceremony in itself, the application of makeup, styling of hair, zipping, tying, fastening and collective ‘getting ready’ part of a wedding, is one of the best opportunities to lay the stories foundations. By photographing the bride and groom separately before the event itself, the narrative has already begun, as each make… Read more »

Eltham Palace, Wedding venue London

I’ve photographed many weddings at Eltham Palace over the years and never tire of it’s art deco splendour. Formerly a medieval Tudor palace dating back to the fourteenth century, the property was taken on by Stephen and Virginia Courtauld in 1933 who transformed it into an art deco masterpiece. The high quality interior is richly designed, with an abundance of beautiful integral features and original furniture, including a domed entrance hall, wood panelled marquetry and sweeping staircases. Today the building is cared for… Read more »

Like so many other couples looking for a wedding photographer, Zoe & Christopher came across my website through a Google search, so it was a surprise to find out that we’re practically neighbours, living just a few streets away in Walthamstow, North East London. It didn’t take long to set up a meeting in our local pub The Bell and I soon heard about their plans for a very stylish winter wedding in Oxford (where they’d met at University, studying maths and science)…. st pauls cathederal

Having had the privalige of photographing literally hundreds of weddings over the past ten years, I’ve come to find myself in all sorts of unusual situations. It’s all part of the job of course, as one week I may be required to stand on the roof of stately home, the next I’m perched on the bow of a vintage speedboat as we make our way down the Thames, or hanging on one handed to a Victorian Carousel. I’ve travelled around… Read more »

wedding enquiries saint botolph's

There’s Light at the End of the Tunnel… “We’re getting married in London, in November and the ceremony starts at 3:30pm…” This is an opening line that is often delivered with an apologetic tone, because as we all know, a late afternoon in November will be almost completely dark. The following four or five months after November, are likely to have difficult weather and low light, so when it comes to some winter wedding photography, things can be a little… Read more »

chelsea cinema kings road

With most weddings, things are usually planned very well in advance. Every detail from transport to table favor, flowers to chair covers, menus, table plans, cake cutting, entertainment and much more besides. The photography is no exception to this. Before the wedding, I always (when possible) meet the couple to discuss timings, venues, photographic styles, ceremonies, formal portraits and many other details. On the day of the wedding, I like to arrive early enough to take a fresh look around… Read more »
